Safety on the Roads: A Motorbike Course Run by Police Volunteers

Riding a motorbike on the road can be an enjoyable and exhilarating experience. However, it can also be dangerous if you don’t have the right skills and safety knowledge. To help motorbike riders stay safe, Staffordshire police are running a motorbike safety course. This course will provide motorbike riders with the skills, safety knowledge and confidence to navigate the roads safely and responsibly. In this blog post, we will discuss the importance of taking a motorbike safety course, the topics covered in the police-run course, and how to register for the course.

What the course covers
The Motorbike Safety Course run by the police is presented by a team of experts with specialist experience in operational motorcycling, advanced first aid, and collision investigation. The course is split into three sections: scene safety, casualty care, and rider skills.
In the scene safety section, participants will learn how to identify potential hazards and how to keep themselves safe. They will also be taught about the potential hazards that exist for the rider and their passengers, as well as other road users.
The casualty care section teaches participants how to assess injuries, manage shock, and provide first aid. Participants will learn what to do if they are first on the scene of an accident and how to administer medical aid until professional help arrives.
The rider skills section focuses on teaching participants how to ride safely, practice risk management and make sure they have adequate protective clothing.
Every participant receives a first aid kit constructed to be attached to a motorbike, as well as a Biker Down pin badge.

Who should take the course
The motorcycle safety course run by the Staffordshire Police is open to any motorcyclist over the age of 18. The complimentary workshop encompasses three sections: scene safety, casualty care and rider skills. During the session, volunteers will demonstrate techniques and provide guidance on how to best approach a situation where a rider or rider’s passenger is injured. Each participant will receive a first aid kit, as well as a Biker Down pin badge.
Representatives from advanced riding training groups will be present to offer advice and provide information. A select few tickets are up for grabs for the event taking place at Staffordshire Police Headquarters on Saturday, May 27, and the subsequent dates to follow.
